Pratone Lounge Sculpture

A rebellious icon of Radical Design, reimagining the natural meadow as a grand-scale lounge experience.

The Story

The Meadow of the Mind

The Pratone is a manifesto of "Experimental Living." Conceived in 1971, it remains one of the most provocative designs in furniture history by shrinking the user and enlarging nature. It features 42 oversized, flexible "blades of grass" rising from a modular base, inviting the user to sink between them in a state of total, immersive repose. It was designed to challenge the bourgeois rigidity of the conventional sofa, replacing it with a playful, chaotic, and unashamedly green landscape of comfort.

True luxury is the freedom to play. The Pratone isn't just a seat—it’s a sensory event. Hand-crafted from specialized polyurethane foam and finished in a vibrant, flexible lacquer, every stem responds to the movement of the body, providing a personalized "nest" within its architectural thicket. Whether placed in a grand avant-garde foyer or a conceptual art suite, the Pratone serves as a screaming declaration of independence from traditional design, bringing the surreal beauty of the wild indoors.

Craftsmanship

Built to Last

"Stem-Flex" Specialized Polyurethane Casting

Each of the 42 grass stalks is individually cast from high-density, flexible cold-injected polyurethane foam. This ensures each blade possesses the perfect balance of structural verticality and elastic softness, allowing them to bend under weight and rebound instantly.

"Guflac" Artisanal Elastic Finish

The entire unit is hand-painted with a proprietary "Guflac" coating. This specialized green pigment acts as a flexible skin that moves with the foam without peeling or cracking, achieving a uniform, vibrant "forest-green" sheen that is UV-resistant and exceptionally durable.

Typography-Embossed Modular Base

The heavy-duty base features deeply embossed "PRATONE" typography on its perimeter, reinforcing its status as an iconic, titled work of art. The modular shape of the base allows for the pairing of multiple units to create a sprawling internal landscape of grass.
